From Leslie Robinette:

GLADSTONE HIGH EVENT HIGHLIGHTS CAREERS IN BUILDING TRADES

High school students and recent graduates interested in skilled trade apprenticeships are invited to a free information night at Gladstone High. Raffle prizes and a free dinner will be provided.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Gladstone High School, 18800 Portland Avenue.

“We want to give students an opportunity to learn about career pathways for electricians, roofers, plumbers, bricklayers, cement masons, carpenters, and more,” said event organizer Loren Watts. “These are high demand, family-wage careers.”

BIKE SAFETY RODEO OFFERS FREE HELMETS

Gladstone’s annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo provides kids with the opportunity to learn bike safety skills by participating in a challenging bike course. Free bike helmets will be provided to participants. By Oregon law, all bike riders age 16 and under must wear a helmet.

The event takes place on Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Gladstone Center for Children & Families parking lot, 18905 Portland Avenue. Participants are invited to bring their own bike. The Gladstone Police Department and the Gladstone/Oak Grove Kiwanis Club sponsor the event, with help provided by the Gladstone High School Key Club.
